Why VERITATEM exists

A short statement of purpose: verifiable, sourced, public-interest reporting — and how we keep it independent.

VERITATEM publishes facts that hold up: sourced reporting, interactive explainers, and demographic maps, in the public interest. This is a placeholder first post, published during our gated-preview phase, to establish the format.

The standard

Three commitments define the work:

  1. Sourced. Every claim of fact carries a source; primary documents are preferred and linked.
  2. Independent. We are an imprint of a holding company, but our owner has no editorial control. See how we work.
  3. Correctable. When we get something wrong, we fix it on the record and say what changed.

That’s the whole idea: make the record legible, and show our work.
